The second race created by Elendyl, Man was made as a gift to the Immortals, so that they would have a brethren race to appreciate the Thier with. Jealous of the Immortals' ability to create life, Man sought out and raped the Immortal Nerendir, giving birth to the orc-people. As retaliation many of the Immortals waged war with Man, even while a minority maintained peaceful lives. Those who took up arms against Man were punished by Elendyl and stripped of their immortality, forcing them to partner with Man in order to continue to create life. In this way, those punished Immortals became Women.
